I painted this fabric collection feeling inspired by the bright colors and bursting blooms in an English rose garden, as well as the fun meanings behind different colors of roses. Did you know that orange roses symbolize enthusiasm, energy, and passion? These vibrant beauties communicate positive energy, and I know we all need those good vibes in our life! Yellow roses are one of my favorite flowers. I love that they symbolize friendship, warmth and caring. I have collected different varieties of rose bushes to plant in my own garden over the years, and love the vibrancy and energy they bring with each new year.
Just to share a fun little tidbit, I have a soft spot for the musician Johnny Cash. He recorded a song titled, “Rose Of My Heart”, written and composed my Hugh Moffatt & Dolly Parton. I shared a verse of that song on my selvedge edge design for this fabric line. It says, “You are the rose of my heart. You are the love of my life. A flower not fading nor falling apart.” That line touched me and reminded me of my dear grandmother Jeanne who grew the most splendid roses. I love her so!
I hope as you collect your favorites from Coming Up Roses that you will feel the joy and playfulness I embraced while bringing this fabric line to life!
